2010 National Engineers Week Poster. Please click here to view a high resolution electronic file of a new e-week poster. Member firms are encouraged to enlarge, print and mount the image into a 30x40 poster for display in their offices or in their communities during the month of February.
Haiti Earthquake Disaster Relief. Many ACEC New York Member Firms are making contributions to assist in relief efforts. If you would like to donate, the following aid agencies are already in Haiti and providing much needed services: 1) American Red Cross www.redcross.org 2) UNICEF USA www.unicefusa.org 3) CARE www.care.org and 4) Mercy Corps www.mercycorps.org. In addition, Habitat for Humanity International is developing shelter solutions for low-income families affected by the earthquake – donations can be made online at www.habitat.org
Call for Volunteers. The Appropriate Infrastructure Development Group (AIDG) has an immediate and dire need for French speaking Civil or Structural Engineers to perform inspections of key buildings left standing after the earthquake to determine their structural stability and to create reports detailing the results of the inspections and any recommended actions. If you are interested and able, please forward your resume/CV to Traci Meagley (tmeagley@buffalo.edu).
On Saturday, March 27, the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York will hold its annual Engineering Excellence Awards Black Tie Dinner Dance in the Grand Ballroom of The Waldorf=Astoria, Park Avenue at 50 th Street, New York City. The festivities will start at 6:00 p.m. with a cocktail reception and exhibition of the award-winning Engineering Excellence Panels from this year’s competition. At 7:00 p.m. the awards presentations will commence in the Grand Ballroom followed by dinner and dancing to the music of the Hank Lane Orchestra.
The Awards Dinner is a unique opportunity for you to meet with colleagues, associates, and clients to celebrate the profession. Please make every effort to attend and return your reservation forms as soon as possible.
