Long Island Region: Nassau and Suffolk Counties

The Long Island Region is particularly active in Albany, sending four to six representatives each year to participate in ACEC New York's Lobby Day and to meet with legislators at the state capital. Environmental issues are of specific concern to the region, especially the safety of groundwater, which is the sole source of Long Island's drinking water.

The region schedules 10 membership meetings each year: four breakfast
meetings, which provide members with opportunities to obtain professional development hours in order to meet continuing education licensing requirements; four evening networking meetings with local state, county, town and city government officials; and two social dinner meetings, including a holiday party in December and the installation of regional officers in June.
