50th Anniversary Engineering Excellence: Now Accepting Preliminary Entries. The 2017 Engineering Excellence Awards program is now accepting preliminary applications! Each year, over 100 firms submit projects that are judged on a rigorous set of criteria, which includes complexity, innovation and value to society. This year, ACEC New York Engineering Excellence is celebrating its 50th Anniversary, so be sure your project is featured during this incredible milestone event. To submit your entry, fill out the online form. Program guidelines are available to download from our website. A pdf version is also available for your planning purposes (do NOT submit this form; all submissions must be received through the online form). 2017 Upstate Leadership Institute - Limited Registration Still Available. The 2017 ACEC New York Leadership Institute will take place in New York City, as well as in Syracuse, with one full-day class a month over the course of 8 months. This course is recommended for senior management, middle management, and anyone who has been identified as a high potential leader. The first NYC class is already sold out; however, spots are still available in the second NYC class and the Upstate Leadership Institute in Syracuse. To register, download the appropriate information brochure (NYC or Upstate) and submit completed form with payment to: ACEC New York, 6 Airline Drive, Albany, NY 12205. Space is limited, and registration is first-come, first-serve. All registrations must be received by August 19, 2016.

Advertising in the 2016-17 ACEC New York Printed Directory: Deadline Extended to July 8. Ad space is still available for reservation in the 2016-17 ACEC New York printed directory, which will be produced and released in the summer of 2016. This directory is distributed not only to members but also to state, city and local government leaders. There are several advertising opportunities available, including space on the directory covers, tabbed pages, and an "enhanced" directory listing. Ad space is first come, first serve - many limited ads have already been claimed. To reserve your space today, complete the sponsorship form and return to Rory Tice at rory@acecny.org. The extended deadline for reserving space and submitting art is July 8, 2016.

Tri-State Online Registration Now Open; Thayer Room Block Closes July 20. This multi-day conference is presented through collaboration by ACEC New York, ACEC NJ and ACEC PA. This is the largest event of it's kind in the tri-state area, attracting engineering industry professionals from across all three states. The Tri-State Conference will feature educational opportunities and networking that can't be found anywhere else. Sponsorship is limited and is still available! Download the sponsorship guide for more information. The room block for the Thayer Hotel is still open; the rate is $200 plus taxes and fees per night. Natasha Burns Promoted to Director of Marketing and Communications. After three years as Communications Associate with ACEC New York, Natasha Burns has been promoted to Director of Marketing and Communications. In her new role, Natasha will produce and provide oversight for all communication and public relations for the organization, including all email outreach, meeting and event promotion, articles for publication, press releases, advertising, and social media management. “DOB NOW” launches in July. The NYC Department of Buildings is rolling out a new computer system, called DOB NOW, that is designed to streamline and digitize almost every filing. The soft launch is set for July 25th where users can opt to register and start using the new system. Initially, it will only be available for plumbing and sprinkler-system work but the department plans to adopt DOB Now for all jobs by 2018.

ACEC New York Firms Top Crain’s List. The Crain's New York Business list of Top 20 Engineering firms has been released, and all 20 of the top engineering firms are members of ACEC. Of the 20 top firms, 19 are members of ACEC New York, and one firm (Boswell Engineering) is a member of ACEC New Jersey. The Top 20 list can be downloaded here, or read the June 13-19, 2016 issue of Crain's New York Business. You can also order the full engineering firms list directly from Crain's New York Business. This list further emphasizes the importance of our organization within the design engineering industry, and we thank our members for their hard work, support and dedication to improving New York.

ACEC New York PDH Webinars

Call for Submissions! ACEC New York is looking for both technical and business programs to present as webinars. PDH webinars should be about one hour and should be technical in nature. Presenters earn 3 PDHs per 1-hour class the first time they present. Business webinars should also be about 1 hour and should provide information relevant to our membership.
