Call for Volunteers: EEA Moderators Needed. For the 50th Anniversary of the program, we are excited to announce that we have received over 150 preliminary entries for the 2017 Engineering Excellence competition! The judging program is scheduled for October 26 in New York City at the Roosevelt Hotel. The Engineering Excellence Committee is seeking licensed design professionals to act as moderators for the competition. In advance of the judging, the Moderator receives copies of the entrant’s written and visual materials. Moderators prepare a presentation 5-7 minutes in length about the project to present to the judges. Each moderator receives 4-8 projects. If you would like to serve as a moderator, contact Erica Lavigne at erica@acecny.org and indicate the category you are interested in moderating: (a) Studies, Research and Consulting Engineering Services, (b) Building/Technology Systems, (c) Structural Systems, (d) Surveying and Mapping Technology, (e) Environmental (f) Waste and Storm Water (g) Water Resources (h) Transportation (k) Energy and (l) Industrial and Manufacturing Processes and Facilities. Reminder: Access to Website Members Only. All employees of member firms are eligible to sign up to access the Members Only pages of our website, which include presentations from ACEC New York (such as the recent NYC codes program) and related events, governance documents, and minutes from board and committee meetings. To register for access, complete the online form. Approval will be granted by staff once membership is verified. Note: if you are the main contact of your firm/branch, you have already been given a login and have the ability to access to update your firm's online member directory profile. If you have not logged in, or need additional assistance, contact natasha@acecny.org. 2017 Scholarship Application Now Available. The online application for students for the 2016-17 ACEC New York Scholarship is now available. At least eight scholarships will provide a stipend of $2,500, as well as two scholarships of $5,000 each, which will be issued via check to be used during the student’s final year of undergraduate study at one of the approved engineering schools in New York State. Only students having completed either their third year of study (4-year program) or fourth year of study (5-year program) by June 2017 are eligible to receive the scholarship. Applications must be accompanied by a certified transcript and received at ACEC New York Headquarters by January 13, 2017. Consider Donating to the 2016-17 Scholarship Fund. The ACEC New York Scholarship Fund is now accepting donations for 2016-17. The Fund awards scholarships to undergraduate engineering students in New York State to promote the consulting engineering profession. Named scholarships reflect contributions of $2,500 or more and are awarded by the firm at an ACEC New York function. Firms can also contribute less than $2,500; these funds are combined into general ACEC New York Scholarships and used to help the Scholarship Fund grow. To donate to the Scholarship Fund, complete the online form and send payment by January 13, 2017. Thank you to our current confirmed 2016-17 scholarship donors.
